Rebecca Levin Nayak (she/her) is a Shareholder at Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller, and experienced attorney who specializes in adoption and assisted reproduction law. She is passionate about ensuring that the legal relationships between children and the adults who love and provide for them are secure. Given the diverse ways in which families are formed, Rebecca has expertise in parentage law, ensuring that her clients have the legal protection they need.
The practice of adoption and assisted reproduction law is personal for Rebecca. She is the proud sister of two adopted siblings, and her own family has been built through assisted reproduction and co-parenting.
Rebecca brings a compassionate, client-centered approach to her legal practice. When counseling Intended Parents, she understands that each family has unique considerations when navigating the legal process to build and secure their family. She also recognizes the specific needs of donors and gestational carriers, ensuring that their roles and rights are clearly defined and protected as they assist others in becoming parents.
Rebecca believes in the importance of giving back to the community through education, community service, and pro bono work. As a knowledgeable public speaker, Rebecca presents topics related to her expertise in adoption and assisted reproduction. Her audiences include attorneys, medical professionals, judges, and community members.
Professional Affiliations and Leadership Roles
Rebecca is a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, chairing the Academy’s ART Membership Committee. She is also an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where she co-chairs the Parentage Committee of the Family Law Section. In this role, she plays a leading part in advancing parentage legislation in Pennsylvania. Additionally, she is active in the Philadelphia Bar Association, currently serving as Chair of the Family Law Section.
Throughout her career, Rebecca has been a passionate advocate for equality. She is a founding member of the Family Law Institute of the National LGBTQ+ Bar and has served on the board of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association. Rebecca is a past chair of the LGBTQ Rights Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association and has been a board member of the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association and Independence Business Alliance. Rebecca is currently a board member of Philadelphia Family Pride.
