Julia T. Woodward, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and has served as Director of the Psychological Support Services Program at the Duke Fertility Center for over 20 years. She is a Professor with a joint faculty appointment in the Departments of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and Obstetrics & Gynecology in the Duke University Health System. Clinically, Dr. Woodward specializes in working with patients facing infertility, pregnancy loss, third-party reproduction, fertility preservation, and perinatal mood disorders. She is the Co-Director of the Third-Party Reproduction Team at the Duke Fertility Center. She trains Clinical Psychology Interns, Doctoral practicum students, REI Fellows, and OBGYN residents in the psychosocial aspects of reproductive medicine, currently the only such training program in the country. In 2022, she created a Postdoctoral Fellowship training program in Reproductive and Perinatal Psychology at Duke.
Dr. Woodward served as the Mental Health Professional Group representative to the Executive Council of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology for 3 years. She lectures internationally on the psychosocial aspects of reproductive medicine and later-life parenting. She is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Mental Health Professional Group, previously chairing MHPG’s Membership Committee, Continuing Education Committee, and Educational Resources Committee and currently serving on the Scientific Development Committee. She also serves as an Associate Editor at Human Reproduction.
